        Enea Bastianini took his time today, heading out on track roughly an hour and a half after the green light, but we can hardly blame him. The Italian shone at this track two days ago, and today&rsquo;s session was mainly about clocking up a few more miles. Miles during which Enea was nevertheless able to have fun testing an important component ahead of 2023. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m pleased with this first day, as I've collected some good information&rdquo;, explains Enea, &ldquo;and I've tested the 2023 frame, which has its strong points. The same goes for the old one, so we have more work to do. In the final stages, I rode with used tyres, and was still able to set some good times.&rdquo; Bastianini: "I want to be competitive at other tracks too"  Enea continues to talk about the new frame, aware that it will be available for him to use next year. &ldquo;We&rsquo;ll definitely use it next year, although it&rsquo;s not quite ready yet. Pecco&rsquo;s working on it too, as you&rsquo;d expect.&rdquo; In conclusion, number 23 outlines tomorrow&rsquo;s work plan. &ldquo;Tomorrow I&rsquo;ll only ride in the morning. I&rsquo;ve always been competitive here at Misano, but I want to be strong at the next tracks too&rdquo;.         The battle between Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini for the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini race win didn&rsquo;t develop into a full-on duel, but the final lap was a real thriller. Enea looked wild as he followed hot on the heels of &lsquo;Pecco&rsquo;, taking a huge risk with braking that was very much on the limit. Something that didn&rsquo;t go down well with management in Borgo Panigale. A telling-off from the CEO  Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall'Igna was quick to address this, before Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, spoke to Sky Sport, admitting: &ldquo;When two riders don&rsquo;t work well together, I&rsquo;m only partly satisfied. We&rsquo;ve spoken to all our riders, they know they shouldn&rsquo;t be overly aggressive with each other&rdquo;. And then to the crux of the matter: &ldquo;Enea behaved well, but he could have avoided that braking on the last lap. He took too big a risk, and we don&rsquo;t like that. I know it&rsquo;s in a rider&rsquo;s nature, but there are 150 people working behind the scenes, there&rsquo;s a company, you need to try and work for the team". Domenicali believes riders should be more responsible then, concluding: "Otherwise, we will be criticised for not winning the rider&rsquo;s title. On track, the best rider wins, but without doing stupid things&rdquo;. The message is clear then, and Bastianini needs to learn, with a view to the last six races and next year too, when he will be in factory Ducati colours and wanting the calmest possible atmosphere in which to be able to aim high.         There are eight Ducatis in MotoGP at present, with these making up a third of the bikes in the 2022 championship. Alongside the Borgo Panigale manufacturer are Aprilia, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and KTM. The Venetian brand fields two riders, as does Suzuki, while the others have four riders apiece. And anyone not riding a Desmosedici would be happy to do so. There are those who are open about this and others who deny it, while some hope to be on the bike soon. Because, whether you like it or not, the red bike is the red bike, a real Ferrari on two wheels. Love it or hate it, no one is indifferent. Ducati, the primadonna of MotoGP Ducati is the quintessential &lsquo;femme fatale&rsquo;. Beautiful, charming, high-profile and sought after. Envied. Challenging, yes, but worth the effort. Who knows how great it must be to go out with her, or even just share a photo together. Imagine completing an actual lap of the track with her, to better understand her character? Competing with her for an entire season? If only, but you have to give a lot in return for something so valable. Pecco and the (factory) Desmosedici: the perfect MotoGP couple The eight Desmosedici riders are Fabio Di Giannantonio, Enea Bastianini, Luca Marini, Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin, Johann Zarco, Jack Miller and Pecco Bagnaia. And these eight compete for Gresini, VR46, Pramac and the factory Lenovo team. But only one has truly won over the most desired &lsquo;girl&rsquo; in the paddock. And that&rsquo;s the number 63 rider, the winner of last Sunday&rsquo;s race, and four more besides. And we feel there will be more victories, with GoFree and the Desmosedici making for the perfect MotoGP pairing. Aside from a few mistakes, when the Italian is focused, he&rsquo;s hard to beat. We might go as far as to say that Pecco is the strongest on the grid as, while he lacks something in terms of consistency, his sheer speed means he has nothing to envy to Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman, on the other hand, envies the Italian&rsquo;s Ducati, whether he acknowledges this or not.&nbsp; Bastianini, the independent rider worthy of promotion So Bagnaia is the strongest, and perhaps has the best bike. But what of the other seven Desmosedicis? Jack Miller did well in Austria, achieving his fifth podium of the season. Joahnn Zarco and Jorge Martin defended themselves well, playing a starring role, albeit to a differing degree. A solid Luca Marini finished fourth, his best result to date, while Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio again scored points. Who else? Enea Bastianini, that&rsquo;s who. The Italian sustained &lsquo;damage&rsquo; at the Red Bull Ring, missing out on another victory after scoring his first pole position in the reigning class. Enea has won three races to date, victories that count for a lot when only Bagnaia has managed to do the same aboard a factory Desmosedici. Bestia&rsquo;s Gresini bike is independent, not even satellite but a step below. The number 23 GP21 has beaten the competition on three occasions, with the other ducatisti left as bystanders.         It wasn&rsquo;t a perfect race weekend for Enea Bastianini, who was back on track today for testing. A way to move forward in a certain sense, his focus already on Le Mans, with a few more reassurances. &ldquo;We tested a few things&rdquo;, begins Enea, &ldquo;and we&rsquo;ve taken a small step forward perhaps, though the track conditions were very different compared to yesterday.         The MotoGP market is heating up. The hotly contended factory Ducati Lenovo ride is in the sights of various riders, but one candidate stands out right now and that&rsquo;s Jorge Martin, the current Pramac rider, part of the satellite team of reference. The Spaniard has made it clear that he wants to become part of the official Borgo Panigale squad, leaving his seat for another. But for who? There&rsquo;s talk of Enea Bastianini, currently with the independent Gresini team aboard the Ducati. Bestia has a GP21, but next year he&rsquo;d receive factory treatment, flanking Frenchman Johann Zarco Both the Spaniard and the Italian are keen to secure a place on the top Ducati team but, while Bestia has won two races in 2022 and the Martinator not even one, it appears that the latter is the most likely candidate for now. And this is why his face is slightly higher than that of his rival in our main image. Rumors: Arbolino to MotoGP with Gresini and Diggia, but look out for Celestino  If this all goes ahead, the teams would be as follows: Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin on the Lenovo Factory, Johann Zarco and Enea Bastianini at Pramac, Fabio Di Giannantonio and a future team-mate for Gresini. But who would join the Italian? A fellow Italian, or rather Tony Arbolino, a strong Moto2 rider who won at Austin.         Enea Bastianini&rsquo;s second win of the season sees the rider return to the top of the championship standings, his future already up for debate in the paddock. In truth, it already was, in that both he and Jorge Martin are eyeing a Ducati factory ride. But the red bike might not represent Enea&rsquo;s future, and here&rsquo;s why. Pernat: &ldquo;Enea won&rsquo;t go to Honda&rdquo;  At the end of the race, when Sky Sport MotoGP asked Enea&rsquo;s manager, Carlo Pernat, whether Honda might be in his thoughts, he replied with a firm &ldquo;no&rdquo;: &ldquo;Enea won&rsquo;t go to Honda, he had a negative experience in Moto3 with team Monlau where he almost risked not being a rider anymore. Enea needs to stay with an Italian team, run by Italians&rdquo;. And if his manager is so convinced, who might respond to this kind of statement? Well, Bastianini himself actually. Bastianini: &ldquo;I&rsquo;m not ruling out any option for the future&rdquo;  Post-race, the Gresini rider was also interviewed by Sky and told about Pernat&rsquo;s comment re Enea needing an Italian team: &ldquo;Well I think the Spaniards really helped me to grow&rdquo;, he comments. &ldquo;I had a good relationship with team Monlau in the end&rdquo;.         A big surprise in Qatar, still in the lead after Indonesia, downsized in Argentina. Enea Bastianini started the 2022 MotoGP season in the best possible way, winning the Lusail race and gifting the Gresini team an inaugural victory that was perhaps unexpected but definitely deserved. At Mandalika, the 2020 Moto2 champion fought hard, taking on the challenges of very hot temperatures, rain, pieces of asphalt breaking away, tyres that wouldn&rsquo;t grip&hellip; And, with effort and patience, his Ducati Gp21 held on to first place in the standings, with a points tally of 30. This lead then vanished at Termas de Rio Hondo however, after a difficult weekend in which material arrived late to the paddock, leaving teams with little time to prepare. In addition,&nbsp; it was the number 23 rider&rsquo;s first visit to the South American track, and so perhaps it was unlikely that he&rsquo;d do any better than he did. Enea prepares to fight back at the US MotoGP  Beyond wanting to score the best possible results for himself and the Gresini team, Bastianini is fighting another battle, and it regards his professional future&hellip;. It&rsquo;s no secret that Bestia wants a factory ride in 2023. Or rather a factory team, bike, spares, support, company and&hellip; salary, all privileges that those belonging to factory squads enjoy. If possible, the Ducati Lenovo&nbsp;team. The 24-year old Italian was already strong last year with Avintia Esponsorama, he&rsquo;s very strong now with the team headed up by Nadia Padovani, and he&rsquo;d clearly do well with the Borgo Panigale factory machine, although he&rsquo;s not alone in targeting this ride, as there&rsquo;s another Ducati man with similar ambitions. We&rsquo;re talking about Jorge Martin, who came so close to a win last weekend but was ultimately pipped to the post by Aleix Espargar&ograve; on the Aprilia. The Pramac Racing rider currently has a GP22, but he wants a Lenovo factory GP23. And he wants it just as much as Enea. While the Termas round saw the Italian&rsquo;s share prices drop, the Spaniard&rsquo;s began to climb. Enea will do his best to claim victory  Enea enjoys the Americas GP and scored a strong sixth-place finish in last year&rsquo;s race. He did even better back in Moto3, reaching the second step of the podium in 2018. But now the situation is different, as well as more complicated. The track is challenging, with potholes and bumps that made life difficult for the riders in 2021. The lap times will also be extremely close. Enea is well aware of all this, but we&rsquo;re certain that he is keen to respond to the recent downhill trend. It will be important to reach Europe with the highest possible morale and the best possible position in the standings, because the Italian is then in for a tough sprint from Portim&atilde;o to Arag&oacute;n. And decisions will be made as to 2023, the riders&rsquo; market seemingly quiet but in fact already buzzing. Bastianini will need to raise his voice already in the States if he wants to be able to sing further down the line. Bastianini, a small false move at Termas: will he bounce back at Austin?

        One of the most highly anticipated events of the MotoGP season is here, with riders set to take to the track of Mandalika for round two this coming weekend. This is the first time the championship will compete at this track, and there is great anticipation following test sessions in February. And the stakes are particularly high for team Gresini, home to current leader, Enea Bastianini. Mentally and physically fit, Bastianini can fight at the front  After his superb performance at the Qatar GP, all eyes will be on Bastianini in Indonesia. On paper, the Italian starts as favourite, but the Indonesian track might throw up some curve balls, as we saw during testing. Firstly, riders will need to see what has been done to the asphalt and whether this will allow them to ride smoothly without the issues that arose during testing. &nbsp;The February test sessions at Mandalika saw Enea place thirteenth in the combined standings, although the Gresini rider finished just 0.530 from first-placed rider Pol Espargar&oacute;. At the end of the test, Enea seemed pleased with how things had gone, explaining how they had focus on both set-up and pace in preparation for the upcoming race. He also liked the track, saying he finds it &ldquo;similar to Mugello&rdquo;, albeit it with some different characteristics: &ldquo;I really like to brake hard, and here there&rsquo;s only one real hard braking point, but there are a lot of fast turns&rdquo;. And so Enea, considering how the opening race went, has every chance of being able to do well and battle for the podium. He is also in excellent physical and mental shape following his win in Qatar. All factors that will work in his favour, unlike other &lsquo;top riders&rsquo; who were unable to maximise their potential during the season-opener. Many unknowns and rain forecast for the weekend  The typical Indonesian climate, wet and humid, could impact on the weekend of course, and this is why Bastianini is realistic as he looks ahead to the next round: &ldquo;I can&rsquo;t wait to race in Indonesia&rdquo;, he comments. &ldquo;We had an incredible race in Qatar where I scored my first win. It won&rsquo;t be easy to do it again, but we definitely had good pace during the tests. They should have resurfaced certain sections of the track, so I don&rsquo;t know exactly what to expect. Even the tyres will be different compared to the test, but we need to continue working as we&rsquo;ve done until now. I expect a lot of fans and Gresini Racing supporters&rdquo;. The weather forecast for Mandalika says it all &ndash; 90% chance of rain all weekend. Can Bastianini also perform on a wet track? The Qatar GP is just around the corner and the Gresini Racing team is ready to embark on a new adventure. Having left Aprilia, the late Fausto&rsquo;s squad will take on the 2022 season as an Independent Team, entrusting two Ducati Desmosedicis to Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio.  The 2020 Moto2 World Champion is highly motivated as he arrives in Losail, spurred on by the progress made during the Sepang and Mandalika tests, while rookie Fabio will take on his first race as a rider in the reigning class.  Bastianini: &quot;I&rsquo;m ready&quot;   &ldquo;I must say we are super ready&rdquo;, comments Bastianini ahead of the season opener. &ldquo;Testing was very good and as a team we are gelling very well together. I like the Qatari track and I did quite well in my MotoGP debut last year&rdquo;. After a strong first season in the MotoGP class, in which Enea challenged Jorge Martin for the title of Rookie of the Year, the Italian is ready to fight at the front this year: &ldquo;We have more experience now so it&rsquo;s time to stop talking and start racing! My physical preparation went very well, and I felt the bike as my own since the first day in Malaysia.&rdquo;  Di Giannantonio: &quot;The physical problems are behind me&quot;   Di Giannantonio is understandably excited: &ldquo;First race of the year and first MotoGP race of my career&hellip; we&rsquo;re so charged up for it&rdquo;, comments Diggia. &ldquo;We are eager to take to the track also considering what we did during testing, as we made steps forward both with the bike and the team. MotoGP: Bastianini and Di Giannantonio on the attack at the Qatar GP

        The 2022 MotoGP season has officially begun. Not with the races, but with testing, at Sepang, with sessions that have given us a first taste of what we might see during this year&rsquo;s championship. The revelation? Ducati. Although, seeing how the 2021 season ended, with so many wins for Francesco Bagnaia, it&rsquo;s not so much of a revelation. But it wasn&rsquo;t just the Italian who proved quick in Malaysia, and this will make for an even more exciting season, in which Ducati will undoubtedly play a starring role. Bastianini straight on the attack  The red Ducati armada can count on eight riders this year, across the factory, Pramac, Gresini and VR46 teams. Last year, when the Italian manufacturer announced its teams for the 2022 championship, some weren&rsquo;t keen on the idea of eight bikes, thinking that so many could see Ducati lose its way. Too much work, too much investment, and yet, following the Malaysia tests, these claims already appear baseless. The fastest rider at Sepang was in fact Enea Bastianini, aboard a 2021 Desmosedici. The team Gresini rider also set a new track record as he worked both on his bike&rsquo;s setting and on a qualifying-style time attack, the Italian&rsquo;s weak point. Riding a new bike (with respect to last season), the Italian&rsquo;s feedback was of course positive, also considering that he&rsquo;d never ridden a MotoGP bike at Sepang before. Further back on the timesheets at the end of the two-day test was his team-mate, and rookie, Fabio Di Giannantonio. He is in a different boat to Enea of course and needs to first adapt to the category, but he&rsquo;s not short on talent and is clearly keen to learn. Bagnaia the strong point  As for the factory team, the focus was different. Francesco Bagnaia (sixth overall) tested the 2022 Desmosedici and was enthusiastic about it, but did not have time for a time attack, as he had to work on new elements, including a new lowering device, a real talking point right now. He nevertheless set a very fast time, just 0.134 from Bastianini, the talented Italian clearly back on track and ready to power his Ducati to dizzy heights once again this season. Pramac rider Jorge Martin was also quick, setting the third fastest time. The 2022 season seems to have got off to a good start for him too and, together with Bagnaia and Bastianini, he will be another one to watch. Meanwhile, Jack Miller, Johann Zarco and Luca Marini had a few issues. Nothing serious but, for one reason or another, they didn&rsquo;t particularly shine during the test. Miller has just had Covid and Marini had problems with the bike on the first day. But let&rsquo;s not forget Marco Bezzecchi&rsquo;s performance, the VR46 rider proving to be the best rookie on track over the two days. The Ducati squadron has many stars ready to shine and, having started the season as they have, they clearly have what it takes to fight for the title. Could 2022 be their year? After many years of hard work, it looks as if they are on the path to success &ndash; focusing on young riders has definitely proved to be the right thing to do! MotoGP, it’s Ducati’s year: more trump cards as it aims for the title

        Fausto Gresini will be sorely missed as his team returns to MotoGP, but the squad is aiming high, particularly in terms of Enea Bastianini. With a year of experience under his belt, a more competitive bike and greater maturity, we expect to see the Italian fighting for the positions that count, an objective that his crew chief Alberto Giribuola confirms. Great faith in Enea  &ldquo;We have a more competitive bike this year, and he was very consistent and fast towards the end of last season. So if we can improve a little in qualifying, then&hellip;&rdquo; explains the Italian, who worked alongside Andrea Dovizioso before moving across to Enea at the start of last season. Things clearly look promising, something Giribuola already realised in November: &ldquo;We&rsquo;re starting with a good base set-up that we tested at Jerez and the new bike was immediately quick without making any huge changes&rdquo;. The technical aspect works in his favour  The competition is stiff if we consider the championship in general and, more specifically, the other Ducati riders. The crew chief isn&rsquo;t giving too much away but admits: &ldquo;He can reach the front positions&rdquo;. Will Enea become the latest nightmare for Bagnaia, Quartararo, Marquez and Mir? From a technical standpoint, he will be at an advantage compared to last year and so will have a little more to exploit: &ldquo;The bike is a little more forgiving and easier to take to the limit, more consistent, and that will be important&rdquo;. And if we add the fact that Enea becomes a different person come race day, then the outlook is very interesting. He&rsquo;s a real &lsquo;race animal&rsquo; as his crew chief confirms: &ldquo;Sunday is Sunday, he feels that. And he&rsquo;s very good at managing his speed in the race, and the tyres. His race management is rather special, and the talent&rsquo;s there, he can aim to do very well&rdquo;. And if he were to become the revelation this season?         Guests in attendance at the Menotti theatre in Spoleto for the National Trophy prize-giving as well as the party to celebrate 100 years of the town&rsquo;s Motoclub also included MotoGP rider Enea Bastianini. One of the club's most high-profile members, Enea was awarded a special trophy for the Moto2 world title he scored in 2020. With more experience and a more advanced bike, like the one I&rsquo;ll have next year, it might be easier to run up front over the flying lap too&rdquo;. &ldquo;The great thing about MotoGP is the continuous evolution of the bike you&rsquo;re riding. The bikes are always in development, which is why I learn something new every time I get on the Ducati. I can&rsquo;t wait for February, when I can get back on the Desmosedici, especially now that I&rsquo;ll be riding a really competitive one, with which I was already quick in testing at Jerez&rdquo;, concludes a pleased Bastianini. Bastianini: “When you come to MotoGP, it’s like starting over from scratch”

        Enea Bastianini is a real talent but this is not exactly a secret. His sixth-place finish at the GP of the Americas is one more demonstration of the growth path that the Italian rider has travelled during his first year in the top class. Continuous growth  The 2020 Moto2 World Champion took on his new Ducati-Avintia adventure with the usual calm and careful approach, one that has allowed him to quickly get to grips with the new category and finish in the points zone in six of the first nine races of the year, a ninth-place finish at Portimao his best result. Then, after the summer break, came the first important step up for Bestia who showed he had the pace to get straight into Q2 during qualifying at Silverstone before a crash ruled him out. Then came a sixth-place finish at Aragon, which was followed by a magnificent podium at Misano and another excellent performance at Austin. Results he has achieved despite not having top-of-line equipment, or rather a very good GP19 that is nevertheless old compared to almost every other bike on the grid. A technical inferiority that will continue into 2022, when Enea will have an updated Ducati GP21. Unlike his current team-mate Luca Marini, who will climb aboard the new GP22. Logistical decision  A decision that seems unfair if we look at the results achieved by Rossi&rsquo;s half-brother (just 30 points for Marini compared to 71 for Bastianini) and one that probably comes down to the economic support promised by the new VR46 team. Bastianini deserves to have the &lsquo;right&rsquo; bike in 2022, no ifs or buts. He&rsquo;s proved that he has the potential to run with the top riders in MotoGP and, in order to do so on a regular basis, he needs to be able to battle with his rivals on equal terms. Paolo Ciabatti, Ducati Corse Sporting Director, has tried to justify the decision. &ldquo;Honestly, it&rsquo;s not possible (to give Bastianini a factory bike)", admits Ciabatti while talking to The-Race.com. &ldquo;Building more than five bikes for 2022 is almost impossible for us. Not only for cost-related reasons but for organisational and logistical reasons. They are all new parts and so could sometimes have reliability problems. It&rsquo;s not possible. This year Enea is using a 2019 bike and seeing as we couldn&rsquo;t develop new engines between 2020 and 2021 the bike has remained more or less the same. Next year he&rsquo;ll have a GP21 with very recent specifications&rdquo;. Understandable logistical reasons then, but the fans are not impressed and continue to ask: &ldquo;Why give Marini a factory bike and not Enea?&rdquo; This is business. With all due respect for his results on track. Tracks where Enea will again have to fight for the technical equipment he deserves with results and hard graft.         Enea Bastianini is ready for another challenge, or rather the Portuguese GP taking place from 16 to 18 April. Making his MotoGP debut this season with Team Ducati Esponsorama, the Italian knows he&rsquo;s not in for an easy race at what is a tough track, but he remains optimistic: &ldquo;The track is good to me, I won the title there last year!&rdquo; &ldquo;I&rsquo;ll be fast at Portim&atilde;o&rdquo;  &ldquo;I&rsquo;m pleased to go to a new track after so many laps in Qatar - comments Bastianini - That time was useful though as we were able to work hard and test many new things in terms of the settings and electronics. I&rsquo;d say Portim&atilde;o is a friendly track, as I won the title there last year. I&rsquo;m sure I can be fast, but I need to work well right away and try to get things sorted for qualifying which is very important in MotoGP. Then we&rsquo;ll see&rdquo;. Qualifying, room for improvement  Enea speaks about the areas in which he can improve aboard the Desmosedici: &ldquo;I think I can improve all round - he adds - I have more experience, so I know what to do in certain situations, and how to manage the sessions. I need to use the tyres well at the right time and then improve my qualifying performance. That was my Achilles' heel in Qatar and I had a few issues but I&rsquo;m sure we&rsquo;ll be able to do well at Portim&atilde;o. I feel confident&rdquo;. The Esponsorama rider remains convinced that qualifying is a key area for improvement: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s a problem area to work on, and it was in Moto2 too. So I need to understand how best to exploit the new rear tyre and then I know I can manage it in the race and be quick in the final stages, so if I can modify my style a little it&rsquo;ll all be a lot easier&rdquo;. Top ten goal  Enea finishes by setting himself some goals for the weekend: &ldquo;Portim&atilde;o is a technical, fast and unique track, there&rsquo;s a lot of undulation and I don&rsquo;t know what it&rsquo;ll be like to ride a MotoGP at this track. It won&rsquo;t be easy but it wasn&rsquo;t easy with the Moto2 either, as no electronics makes it all a little more complicated. I think it will be easier in that respect, but with more power you have be able to manage everything effectively. So my goal will be to finish in the top ten with less of a gap to the leaders, though I know it won&rsquo;t be easy at a new track&rdquo;.
