        The 2022 MotoE World Cup season starts with an uphill climb for Bradley Smith. The English rider will not be able to take part in the opening round of the full-electric championship taking place this weekend at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, having not been passed fit by the doctors. The former MotoGP rider is still recovering after the serious accident he suffered at the Le Mans 24 Hours, where he was hit by another rider and fractured a vertebra. He will be replaced on the Energica Ego Corsa of team WithU GRT RNF MotoE by German Lukas Tulovic, who joins Niccol&ograve; Canepa. Smith: &ldquo;I thought I&rsquo;d be able to race, but I respect the doctors&rsquo; decision&rdquo;  &ldquo;Unfortunately, I have bad news, as I&rsquo;ve been declared unfit by the doctors for the Jerez weekend&rdquo;, stated a disappointed Bradley. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m sorry because I&rsquo;ve worked hard in the last few days to be ready for this first MotoE round and I honestly thought I&rsquo;d be able to race. But I respect the decision taken of course, so now I&rsquo;ll continue to train to be back on track for the next round, which will be back at Le Mans&rdquo;.         Last week&rsquo;s Le Mans 24 Hours, which finished with a win for the factory Yoshimura SERT team, will long remain in the memory of Bradley Smith. The English rider was taking part aboard the Yamaha R1 of team MotoAin, alongside Corentin Perolari, Claudio Corti and Louis Rossi, but his race lasted just a few metres due to a spectacular but equally scary accident. After a few problems reaching the start line, the former MotoGP rider was hit by the BMW of Christophe Seigneur and found himself on the ground, at the edge of the track, leaving the entire Le Mans paddock worried for a good few minutes. Fortunately, the scary situation was resolved with a brief hospital stay but the consequences could have been much more serious. Smith: &ldquo;One hell of an impact, I was lucky&rdquo;  &ldquo;Just like to say a big thanks to everyone that helped, looked after and supported me during the last 36 hours,&rdquo; Smith said, as he prepared to return home. &ldquo;It was one hell of a impact, and I'm lucky to be in one piece. Now I'm heading back home to begin my rehab." &ldquo;Although I didn't get very far into the race, the Endurance World Championship was an amazing event. So good to see so many familiar faces and feel the team spirit of the whole paddock. The latest &quot;underground&quot; rumour from the SBK would have us believing that Bradley Smith is ready to switch championships and move from MotoGP across to the production-derived series. But where would the former Aprilia rider be heading?  To Ten Kate, &quot;of course&quot;. It would appear that the Dutch team is safe, its participation in the 2021 championship now feasible. And with Loriz Baz having left for the US, brothers Ronald and Gerritt are starting over, preparing an independent R1 M that nevertheless proved competitive in the Frenchman&rsquo;s hands.  As for Smith, he would be embarking on a brand-new adventure. After years of prototype bikes, the 30-year old Englishman would be climbing aboard a different bike in a series that is dominated by Brits. If a deal is in fact made, WorldSBK would gain a rider who has eight MotoGP seasons under his belt, plus eleven seasons across 125 and Moto2. He himself has revealed how keen he still is to do well.
