        Despite the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, British Superbike was nevertheless able to put on a show this season, offering eighteen races thanks also to the introduction of a third race each weekend. Next year, the British series will celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary and introduce further new features in addition to retaining the three-race format, appreciated by both fans and riders. A new qualifying format  As of next year, Friday&rsquo;s free practice sessions will take on greater significance, the combined classification dictating the twelve riders who will gain direct access to Q2 on Saturday, while the rest of the field will take part in Q1 as is the case in the world championship. Saturday will also include the first of the weekend&rsquo;s three races, known as the Sprint Race. This will be the only race that the riders will start according to their qualifying times, as in Race 2 and Race 3 - both running on Sunday - the grid is based on the fastest laps in the previous races. A bigger Showdown  There was no Showdown this season, with only six rounds in all, but next year it&rsquo;s back and will take in the final three championship rounds, with a few new details compared to previous years. At the end of the &rdquo;regular season", comprising the first eight weekends, the title fight will come down to the leading eight riders - rather than the usual six - in the standings, the points of which will increase to 1000 plus the "podium credits" acquired over the course of the previous weeks (5 points for a win, 3 for second and 1 for third). For the riders from ninth down, the usual standings will continue over the final three rounds, the &ldquo;best of the rest&rdquo; awarded at the end of the season with the Riders' Cup.
