        As he heads towards 50, road riding legend John McGuinness will return to the Tourist Trophy in 2022, riding the factory Honda CBR1000RR-R. "McPint", a 23-time winner of the world&rsquo;s most prestigious road race, has decided to jump back on the Japanese bike as he prepares to reach the milestone of 100 TT race starts. He will also compete in the North West 200 a few weeks earlier, a race that almost brought his career to an end in 2017 (again with Honda). &ldquo;What can I say really, it's like coming back home to the family,&rdquo; comments McGuinness said. &ldquo;It's the 30th anniversary of the Fireblade, I'll be 50 years old and also celebrating my 100th TT start, so it feels like it's meant to be. I can't wait to get stuck in!&rdquo; Glenn Irwin to make his TT debut  McGuinness will be joined by Glenn Irwin, current Honda Racing UK rider in British Superbike. Although he will be one of the favourites at the North West 200, considering the number of race wins he&rsquo;s amassed with Ducati and Kawasaki in recent years, he&rsquo;ll be making his TT debut and will be up against some very stiff competition. But his experience in other road races, such as the Macau GP, could nevertheless see him become one of the dangerous newcomers of all time. "Finally, I&rsquo;ll be making my long-awaited TT debut with Honda&rdquo;, says Irwin. "We have no expectations for the Isle of Man TT, we&rsquo;re going there to learn and enjoy. It&rsquo;s incredible to have someone like John as my teammate, he&rsquo;s probably the second greatest TT rider after Joey Dunlop, so to be able to share the garage with him is something I am really excited about&rdquo;. TT 2022: John McGuinness to line up with Honda Racing UK

        One of the questions fans most often ask regards the differences between production bikes and their race-ready counterparts that, despite deriving from the road version, always appear to be a lot more aggressive and high-performance. So to answer this question, Honda has come up with a test that can leave us in no doubt. At the spectacular English track of Oulton Park, Glenn Irwin (Honda Racing UK rider in BSB and a multi-winner of the North West 200) completed some laps with the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP with which he races in BSB and then more laps aboard the road version of the bike. Surprising results  The Carrickfergus rider set a best time of 1&rsquo;39.054 with the road bike, complete with licence plate, turn signals and mirrors, which was just 2.8 seconds slower than his fastest lap aboard the BSB version of the bike, recorded that same day. A surprising result that confirms how the Japanese supersport bike is a real &ldquo;track weapon&rdquo; even without any modifications. How is the production CBR1000RR-R SP in the hands of a pro?

        Following the winter tests at Portimao, the news that was in the air is now official: Ryo Mizuno will compete in British Superbike in 2021 aboard the Honda CBR1000RR-R of the Honda Racing UK team. The Japanese rider has already taken part in the Portuguese tests and rounds out a high-level line up alongside reconfirmed rider Glenn Irwin, who already came close to the title in 2020. Havier Beltran&rsquo;s team also confirms its commitment to Superstock 1000 with rider Tom Neave, who continues with the squad for a third season. In addition, the team will benefit from official support from the Tokyo-based manufacturer across both categories thanks to the Honda Superbike Challenge Program. Mizuno: "Ready for a new challenge"  The Japanese rider, winner of the All-Japan GP3 series in 2015 and GP2 in 2017, is excited ahead of this new adventure: &ldquo;I can&rsquo;t wait to take on this new challenge in the British Championship. I must thank my sponsors and Honda for giving me this great opportunity and I hope to achieve great success in front of the British fans".  Irwin: "We&rsquo;ll be prepared for the first round"  The Carrickfergus native is the team&rsquo;s leading light and he'll be aiming for the title: &ldquo;I&rsquo;m pleased to continue with Honda again in 2021. In 2020, we developed the bike during races and this year we start with a solid base, so we&rsquo;re aiming to improve further. Ryo&rsquo;s feedback will be fundamental, seeing as he&rsquo;s coming from a totally different context but already has good experience as a Honda rider&rdquo;. The British Superbike season will kick off over the last weekend in May at the Oulton Park track, with each race weekend comprising three Superbike races.         Glenn Irwin&rsquo;s 2020 season in British Superbike was, all in all, a positive one. The rider from Carrickfergus finished the season in fourth place, scoring excellent results aboard the new Honda CBR1000RR-R of Honda Racing UK, despite some complicated weekends like those of Oulton Park and Donington. One of the Northern Irishman&rsquo;s main rivals, as well as his team-mate, was younger brother Andrew, a talented rider who raced for the second consecutive season with Havier Beltran&rsquo;s team. But the 26-year old has decided to make a change and move to BMW in 2021, with the team Synetiq by Tas Racing. "My brother is very ambitious"  In a recent interview for the BBC, Glenn had good things to say about his younger brother: &ldquo;Andrew is younger than me and very ambitious. That fact I finished in front of him this year surprised me and now he&rsquo;ll compete with another bike, I know he&rsquo;ll be one of my toughest rivals in the battle for the win. Our relationship is fantastic though and, as well as being brothers, we are friends first and foremost&rdquo;. He also touched on the fact that the TT has now been cancelled: "It&rsquo;s truly a pity to not be able to take part in the TT. It&rsquo;s two years that I&rsquo;ve been wanting to race the Mountain as a newcomer, but now I have to wait longer. Staying with Honda definitely has me feeling optimistic, considering its success on both track and road&rdquo;.
