MotoE: Xavier Siméon and Niccolò Canepa to sit out the 2021 season

The two riders who competed for team LCR in 2020 will not continue in the electric bike series due to clashes with their commitments in world endurance

Like Mike Di Meglio, two more MotoE stars, namely Niccolò Canepa and Xavier Siméon, have decided not to compete in the upcoming electric bike championship. This is due to the fact there are various clashes with events on the world endurance calendar, a series in which the pair compete with top teams Yart Yamaha and Yoshimura SERT Suzuki.

 Canepa: "I’ll focus on endurance"

The Italian rider announced the end of his MotoE adventure on social media: "End of a great story. Unfortunately, I can’t take part in the MotoE World Cup this year due to a date clash between Endurance and MotoE. We tried everything to continue with team LCR but there were no solutions. Thanks to the team for their great job during these years. Now it’s heads down and let’s focus on the EWC".

Siméon: "I’ll miss the championship"

The Belgian rider has come to the same decision and so Canepa will be simply another rival rather than a team-mate to Siméon, the pair having build a good relationship.

"For various reasons, I won’t compete in the MotoE World Cup this year. I want to thank team LCR – states the former MotoGP rider on social media – and particularly Lucio Cecchinello who’s been the best team manager I’ve ever had. I’ll miss this championship and Niccolò Canepa too, we’ve shared some good times".
