Having been unable to make a deal that would see him test for Yamaha, Jorge Lorenzo is free of any contracts for the 2021 season. With time on his hands, the Majorcan looks back at his career while responding to his followers on Instagram.

Barcelona 2009 and Mugello 2016

"Which was your favourite MotoGP season and why?", Jorge asked his fans.

Some remembered his 2015 title win, the result of an amazing comeback that came to a head at Valencia. "It’s true. I never give up”, replied Lorenzo.

Others cited 2009, when Valentino passed him at Barcelona: “That was a race with an almost identical level of rider/bike competitiveness. Rossi won it in braking. A pity, but still an historic race”.

Jorge was able to win many other battles, like Mugello 2016 against Marc Marquez: “Great, a duel between two titans that came to an unexpected end”. And there is even mention of disappointment at Ducati: “I’m sorry too, a pity”.

It’s impossible not to remember his rapid return following injury at Assen 2013: "Yes, I believe in miracles".

Casey Stoner and Marco Simoncelli

Back to Ducati, and one fans recalls Casey Stoner’s triumph in 2007: "I agree, pure talent”, commented Lorenzo, singing the praises of the former Australian rider.

And then there’s a touching mention of Marco Simoncelli. “In the good and bad, Marco was unique. Courage, talent and personality. We’ll always miss him”.
