The MotoGP.com website cites the rider as “provisionally included in the list of riders who will compete” while Team Honda offers additional hope
There is still no official word from Team Repsol Honda or Marc Marquez himself, but the entry list of riders who will compete in the opening race of the season in Qatar, taking place on 28 March, includes the eight-time world champion. MotoGP.com has published the list, mentioning the fact that Marquez is “provisionally included in the list of riders who will compete in the first race of 2021”.
The Spaniard has made significant improvement in recent weeks, clear to see in the numerous videos and photos he has published on social media and something the rider himself has confirmed in a recent interview: “One month ago, I struggled to take a shower, eat or open a door with my right arm”, he said.
Now that the situation has improved, the Spaniard will now visit the hospital for a check-up this week. If he receives the OK from the doctors, he will get back on a bike, but not a MotoGP: “If it’s all OK, I’ll start riding small bikes at small tracks”. And knowing Marc, if everything goes to plan, it won’t be long before he goes from small bikes to the big bikes.
So the fact that #93 has been included in the entry list for the season-opener might be a good sign. Yesterday morning, a photo of Marquez’s partially hidden bike has been published on the team’s Instagram profile alongside a clear message: “we can see light at the end of the tunnel. Just a few days prior to the start of the MotoGP world championship, we are almost ready”… just publicity or another small clue?
