MotoGP, Dovizioso and Aprilia, act two: testing underway at Mugello

Thanks also to the clement weather, Andrea is back on track with the RS-GP, working on his seat position and starting to study his (potential) new companion in more detail

The Mugello weather is holding up for Andrea Dovizioso (for now). The Italian is on track with the Aprilia RS-GP today and tomorrow, for what is his second test with the Noale-based manufacturer following a first exit at Jerez. It remains to be seen how much track time they will get, considering the less than favourable weather forecast.

But for now conditions are dry and Andrea has already made a brief exit with what could be his companion in 2022, or perhaps - on a few select occasions - already this year.

Things are getting serious (maybe)

Dovizioso’s aim this week is clear, or at least understandable. At Jerez, Andrea focused predominantly on identifying the best seat position, essential in order to be able to start building confidence with a new bike and then work on the setting and subsequent modifications.

So the undulating Mugello track could (and should) provide an opportunity to start working in more detail, and perhaps step on the gas a little more, in every sense. Aprilia has worked hard in the weeks following the Italian’s first test, in order to satisfy his requests, and so this two-day session should already bring some initial results. Might true love blossom between Andrea and the Noale manufacturer?
