MotoGP France, Miller: “I have a score to settle with Le Mans”

"A weight was lifted with the Jerez win, but I want to do it again as soon as possible. I have a score to settle with Le Mans, a love-hate relationship. I’ve trained hard and rain doesn’t worry me

He’s had a few days to fully digest his first win as a Ducati rider, but now Jack Miller needs to get back to business. Now, with greater awareness and a weight that’s been lifted, the Australian aims for big points at Le Mans, which would help him to move closer to the top of the standings.

After winning, it’s like a weight’s been lifted - comments Miller - but the desire to win again is greater too. So I hope for another positive weekend, I’ve trained hard all week while trying to stay relaxed. I think I’m ready for all conditions, seeing as I’ve often been quick in the rain, and I feel I have a score to settle with Le Mans after last year. I have a love-hate relationship with the track”.

Continuing on the subject of Le Mans, Jack says his piece about the use of the holeshot device, which may remain disactivated at the French track.

“I don’t think this track is suitable for it, so I’m curious to see who might use it off the line. Le Mans is a smooth track, I don’t really like the final sector but I think I can be quick here”.

Miller: “It’s cool to think how far Pecco and I have come”

Before turning his attention to the track action, Miller looks back at his latest win, and the phone calls he made to friends and family.

“I spoke to my parents over the phone and computer, and it was cool to see them celebrating all night. My call with the Crutchlows? Cal told me it was him who’d taught me everything, while Lucy was as sweet as ever”.

He then travels further into the past, recalling his very first podium which he shared with Pecco Bagnaia, back in 2011 in the CEV championship.

“I remember that race like it was yesterday, as that was my only CEV podium before moving to the world championship. I was pretty much the same height as I am now, but Pecco came up to my waist and had a much higher voice. It’s strange when I think about it, but also cool to think how far we’ve come”.
