MotoGP Catalunya: Rins ‘unfit’ for his home race

A bicycle accident proves costly for the Suzuki rider, who is forced to miss his home round at Barcelona

03.06.2021 18:22

Alex Rins is not having an easy time of it. The Spanish Suzuki rider has suffered four consecutive DNFs (the latest at Mugello) and lies just thirteenth in the standings with 23 points, fruit of a sixth- and fourth-place finish in the Qatar double-header.

The Montmeló race could have been an excellent opportunity for Alex to turn his championship around, for the better. But now, to “aggravate” the situation, the Barcelona native has suffered a cycling accident on track this morning. The result? He has fractured his left radius, which means he can’t compete in his home race.

Team Suzuki have confirmed the injury in a brief press release, which states that Alex Rins will undergo surgery at the Dexeus clinic tomorrow to fix his left radius.
