Moto3: Dupasquier’s number 50 will be withdrawn at the Sachsenring

Two weeks after the tragic passing of Jason Dupasquier during qualifying at the Italian GP, the motorcycling world is still in shock that it has lost the talented 19-year old. The rider’s race number, 50, will be withdrawn from the category during a ceremony that will take place during the German GP at the Sachsenring, the home round for team PrustelGP, for whom the Swiss rider competed.

The latest tribute to a much-loved rider

The withdrawal of his race number at the Sachsenring is not the only tribute to Jason, for whom the paddock already observed a minute’s silence before the MotoGP race at Mugello and left messages in tribute to Dupaquier on a large board that was then in place at the Swiss rider’s funeral. The final farewell came a few days ago, at the Basilica di Saint-Pierre-aix-Liens in Bulle, Jason’s home town.

So there will be no more number 50 in Moto3 in future seasons, just as the number 48 of Shoya Tomizawa in Moto2 and the number 58 of Marco Simoncelli in MotoGP were withdrawn in the past.
