Poleman at Assen, the Spaniard will finish out the year with Yamaha before perhaps becoming the Noale manufacturer’s frontman
According to Ricard Jovè, a commentator for DAZN Spagna, the split from Yamaha could mean that we see Maverick Viñales in Aprilia colours next year, the rider potentially becoming the Italian manufacturer’s first rider. According to the Spanish commentator, there is a good chance that the deal will be done, a move that would shake up the grid for next year and create a sort of domino effect.
Maverick would thus become team-mate to Aleix Espargaró, starting from scratch after five seasons as a factory Yamaha rider, a period characterised by highs and lows. The RS-GP could serve to motivate "Top Gun", who would find a brand-new environment in which to work, in the hope of taking his career to new heights.
