Tardozzi: “Vinales? I hope he continues to race in MotoGP”

With a race-free July, riders in the reigning class have time to rest up but also look ahead to 2022. These include Maverick Vinales, who shocked everyone after the Assen race when he announced his imminent split from Yamaha. Where the Spanish rider will end up next season, no one yet knows. There are those who talk of Aprilia or perhaps a rekindling of the Suzuki flame. Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi offers his opinion.

“We’re happy with the riders we have”

“I’m sorry Vinales has made this decision, but he’ll have his reasons of course - comments Tardozzi while talking to Sky Sport MotoGP -  A future with Ducati? Right now we’re very pleased to have Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller while the other Ducati riders are also doing well. We are investing in young riders and so I believe and hope that they too will bring us strong results”.

“A very fast rider”

But seeing as Vinales is yet to talk about his future, what possible options might he have? “I don’t know where he’ll go, but I hope he stays in the MotoGP championship. He’s an important rider for the category, and is very fast. I hope Aprilia secures the best possible riders so that they can be as competitive as possible”.
