The Spaniard is ready for his first back-to-back event and hopes to be able to complete another solid weekend, perhaps improving on eighth place
After the long summer break during which Marc Márquez was back training with a bike, the Spaniard returned to the Red Bull Ring and concluded the first of the two Austrian races in eighth position. It is also true that his aggressive moves on track caused significant debate post-race, but now it’s time to turn the page and focus on the upcoming round.
This is the first time the eight-time champion will face back-to-back races and he admits: “We are back again in Austria and it’s the first time I will be racing at the same circuit two weekends in a row, so this will be interesting”.
A first for him, seeing as he missed the entire 2020 season and hence another chance to redeem himself. He and the Repsol Honda team will strive to improve the set-up of the RC213V to be able to bring home a better result.
Considering his performance and what he expects, Marc adds: “Honestly speaking I don’t think it will change too much but we start from a very good base. Last weekend was good, apart from the restart on Sunday. I am confident we can do another good weekend”. Perhaps even taking a step forward and aiming for the top five, at a track where he scored pole position and second place in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
