While Niccolò recovers, Elia will join Carlos Tatay for the next GP
After sustaining injury during the Styria GP, Niccolò Antonelli is forced to sit out this weekend’s second race at the Red Bull Ring. Having fractured the third and fourth metacarpal on his right hand during qualifying, he will need to recover for a few more weeks and, as explained by the Avintia Esponsorama team, the hope is that Niccolò can be back on track at Silverstone (29 August).
Elia Bartolini will therefore stand in for the rider at the Austrian GP. For young Elia, this marks a return to a team where he has previously substituted for injured Carlos Tatay in Spain, Germany and Holland, scoring points in two of these races.
Another appearance in the world championship will allow the current CIV Moto3 leader to make an impression on the international stage, while the team awaits Antonelli’s full recovery.
