After a positive start, the Italian’s race ended with a DNF due to structural damage to the fairing of his Desmosedici: "I’m upset, I wanted to entertain you"
The Austrian race weekend at the Red Bull Ring concluded with a strange race retirement for Enea Bastianini. After having made a strong start and climbed well inside the points zone, battling for the top ten, the Italian had to end his race ahead of time due a problem with the fairing, the left part of which came away as he exited the first turn.
"I’m really upset. The belly pan came away and I had to retire. A real pity because we were having a good weekend and I was climbing up towards the leading group, but I couldn’t have predicted what would happen", comments the Ducati Avintia rider.
"I’m sorry because I know I could have entertained you, I’m speechless right now”, concludes the disappointed 2020 Moto2 world champion, who leaves the Austrian track with good sensations but a bitter epilogue.
