The news has been confirmed by the Losail circuit organisers. As usual, the GP will run at night
The 2021 MotoGP season is still in progress but the organisers are already looking to the future as they work on the 2022 calendar.
While the riders are at Silverstone for the British GP, the Losail circuit has confirmed on its Twitter account that the Qatari track will once again play host to the season-opener: “The opening race of 2022 will take place in Qatar at night under the floodlights at Losail International Circuit on the 6th of March 2022”.
News that confirms the importance of Qatar on the international motorsport landscape, considering its fixed presence on the calendar since 2004, the races having been held at night from 2008 onwards. 5380 metres in length and featuring 16 turns, the Losail International Circuit appears to be in demand right now, in that it may play host to a round of the 2021 F1 championship to make up for the cancelled Japan GP.
