Moto3: Chinese firm CF Moto to debut in the world championship in 2022

Rumours suggest that the Chinese brand will enter the cadet class under the KTM wing, using rebranded bikes that will take to the track with team Prustel

It seems that the 2022 Moto3 championship will bring some new faces. According to German publication Speedweek, a new brand might be set to debut in the cadet class, namely CF Moto, a company of Chinese origin.

 The agreement with Pierer Mobility

According to the German publication’s sources, in addition to the already known KTM, Husqvarna and GAS GAS, Pierer Mobility will also support a fourth brand, which will be CF Moto. The bikes will apparently take to the track with team Prustel GP, an announcement set to be made during the Misano round in October. But how can we explain this possible new-entry? Simple, as demand is growing in China. The collaboration between Pierer Mobility and CF Moto began in 2017 and has seen the recent inauguration of an enormous factory in Hangzhou, capable of producing more than 50,000 bikes in a year. The goal? To conquer the Chinese market with small bikes, but also 750 cc and 900 cc versions.

The agreement between Pierer Mobility and CF Moto

And so the launch in Moto3 looks to be a key step on the path to conquering said market. A marketing operation on the part of Pierer Mobility, which will essentially “take possession” of almost the entire Moto3 grid. If we exclude Honda, we will see KTM, Husqvarna, GASGAS and also CF Moto bikes, all of which fall under the Pierer wing. But once again it will come under the KTM brand, so despite different livery colours, the team Prustel riders will be on track with two KTM RC250GP bikes.
