Jorge Lorenzo was waiting for Fabio Quartararo in parc fermé at Misano, at the end of the Emilia-Romagna race that saw the Frenchman secure the world championship title.

A well-deserved win, and one that means Fabio has become the youngest Yamaha rider to win the title, going one better than Lorenzo, who won the 2010 championship at 23 years and 159 days of age.

Lorenzo: “I didn’t expect Bagnaia to crash”

Having hugged El Diablo, the Majorcan said a few words to Sky Sport MotoGP. “I didn’t expect Pecco’s crash – he’s been the strongest in recent races”, began the five-time world champion in reference to the Italian’s extraordinary fall four laps from the end. “I have to say that Fabio deserves the title, he's done well and made no mistakes. He’s a good guy, he deserved the title”.

The last Yamaha rider’s title dates back to 2015, when it was Lorenzo himself to lift the trophy. I’m very pleased for Yamaha too, they were due a win after six years without”, concluded the 34-year old.
