Guests in attendance at the Menotti theatre in Spoleto for the National Trophy prize-giving as well as the party to celebrate 100 years of the town’s Motoclub also included MotoGP rider Enea Bastianini. One of the club's most high-profile members, Enea was awarded a special trophy for the Moto2 world title he scored in 2020. He also had chance to talk about his first season in the reigning class with Ducati.

“My MotoGP debut this year has been very positive, and I've really enjoyed every race”, comments number 23. “But I have to admit that the initial approach with these powerful bikes wasn’t easy, in fact it was like starting over from scratch despite arriving as world champion in the intermediate class. But I think I can pleased with what I’ve done, especially the two podiums that I scored after making a good recovery”.

“I need to improve in qualifying in 2022”

Despite the rider having battled it out with Jorge Martin for the title of best rookie this year, Enea is well aware that he has several areas in which to improve: “One aspect I need to work on in order to improve quite a bit is qualifying, as I was always starting quite a way back this season and then was forced to play catch up which is never easy. With more experience and a more advanced bike, like the one I’ll have next year, it might be easier to run up front over the flying lap too”.

“The great thing about MotoGP is the continuous evolution of the bike you’re riding. The bikes are always in development, which is why I learn something new every time I get on the Ducati. I can’t wait for February, when I can get back on the Desmosedici, especially now that I’ll be riding a really competitive one, with which I was already quick in testing at Jerez”, concludes a pleased Bastianini.
