2) Valentino Rossi, second on 115, first in the top class

For year, the Tavullia native did his best to beat the 122 victories amassed by "Ago", but his final race seasons proved complicated, and he finished on 115, not far behind his fellow countryman. The nine-time champion holds another record though, in that he’s the most successful rider of all time in the reigning class, with 89 wins. Rossi’s best years were 2001, 2002 and 2005, with 11 wins. Thanks to seven world titles, he also lies second in terms of top class title wins, while his 235 podiums see him place first among the top three in terms of ‘medal’ finishes.
