Marc is waving the white flag again this weekend and hopes to return for Le Mans. He will be replaced by the HRC SBK rider
When it rains, it pours at HRC: Marc Marquez, who underwent surgery four weeks ago after fracturing his first metacarpal, is not yet fully fit and will be unable to compete in this weekend’s Spanish MotoGP round at Jerez.
The decision has been taken along with doctor Roger de Oña, in order to avoid an even longer recovery, as was the case in the past, and to ensure he can be back on track for the French GP taking place at Le Mans on 12-14 May.
Taking Marquez’s place on the factory Honda team is fellow countryman Iker Lecuona, who will return to MotoGP for the first time in two years. Iker currently competes in World Superbike with the HRC team and is ready to exploit this important new opportunity aboard the prototype and do his best to stand out at a track he knows well.
