Road Races: many strong riders set to compete in the Spring Cup

Less than a month before the Scarborough event that will open the 2021 season, some of the big names set to compete at Oliver's Mount have been announced

Although many of the events originally scheduled have already been cancelled, the Tourist Trophy included, the 2021 road racing season is just around the corner. It will kick off in less than a month’s time with the Spring Cup, taking place on 22-23 May at the hilly Scarborough track of Oliver's Mount, an event that will involve a number of well-known faces.

First and foremost, Davey Todd, who will race the Honda CBR600RR for team Wilson Craig Racing, but he’s not the only top rider set to take part. One of the latest confirmed entries is John Burrows’ Burrows Engineering, which will entrust its Yamaha R6 bikes to rising starts Paul Jordan and Michael Browne, who were already team-mates last year and who will be fighting for the positions that count this time around.

Look out for James Hind

Despite his tender age, one of the riders to look out for is James Hind, holder of the Lightweight Manx GP record at the Isle of Man and a future star of the discipline according to Lee Johnston and Dean Harrison. He will line up in both the Supersport and Supertwin categories, riding, respectively, a Kawasaki and a Paton managed by Ian Lougher’s ILR team.

Lastly, we cannot talk about promising youngsters without mentioning Adam McLean who, despite recent injuries, will be competing at the North Yorkshire circuit in the Supertwin class, riding for team VRS, as well as racing the "classic" Kawasaki of team McAdoo in Supersport.
