Here’s the new Triumph 765, in the blue colours of the team headed up by former rider Simon Buckmaster, manager of Dynavolt, who has gone from Honda to the British brand and returned home to contend the British Supersport championship. This year will be crucial, not only in terms of results, but also performance.

The three-cylinder designed and built by the race department in Hinckley will be carefully monitored by Dorna and the FIM which, in the meantime, are busy drafting the new World Supersport regulation together with manufacturer representatives.

The revolution begins in the UK and also in Italy. Italy’s National Trophy 600 will in fact see a double classification, in which the Open Supersport class includes a Ducati Panigale 955, already a winner in the hands of Nicholas Spinelli. It won’t be easy to compare the results of the Bolognese twin with those of its British rival, without forgetting the presence (we hope) of the MV Agusta 800 and the "classic" Japanese four-cylinders.

Supersport in crisis? No way

The significant entry numbers also have to so with the looming new regulation. The teams, attracted by the opportunity and the obvious shop window that this historic change guarantees, have signed up in their droves, also “booking” a place for 2022. In the meantime, we won’t see a mere single series championship, and Manuel Puccetti supports this theory.

We only hope that Dorna and the FIM, manufacturers and teams are able to come to an agreement. It’s not easy, in fact it’s very difficult to write regulations that will please everybody. It always seems to be a case of short blanket syndrome, it covers your head but not your feet. And viceversa.
