Although there were no world championship races last weekend, Italy, or rather Aprilia, took centre stage in two different national series, winning in British Superbike at Knockhill and in MotoAmerica at Laguna Seca.

Fraser Rogers powers the RSV4 to victory

In the Scottish BSB round which ran at the spectacular Knockhill circuit, the Stock 1000 class raced twice on Sunday. While local hero Taylor Mackenzie won race 1 aboard the Bathams Racing BMW, in the second race it was Fraser Rogers who crossed the line first with the Aprilia RSV4 of team IN Competition.

A great result in one of the most hard-fought and unpredictable national championships, Rogers now in the mix for the title aboard the Noale supersport bike.

The RS660 monopolises the podium at Laguna Seca

And on the other side of the ocean, the Aprilia RS660 went one step further. In the Twins Cup event at Laguna, the Italian manufacturer’s mid-sized sports bikes monopolised the podium with Kaleb De Keyrel, Anthony Mazziotto and Jody Barry finishing first, second and third.

Toby Khamsouk and Hayden Schultz also finished inside the top ten, in fifth and seventh place respectively. In addition, De Keyrel now leads the championship ahead of the next round, set to run in Minnesota at the end of August.
