The Donington Park BSB weekend brought three different race winners, with riders are now set to battle it out during the Summer Grand Slam at Cadwell Park, but the latest weekend proved unlucky for Suzuki and particularly for Danny Kent.

The 2015 Moto3 world champion crashed during race 2 and fractured his hip. He was transported to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, and should have undergone surgery on Tuesday, but the operation will now take place on Monday, performed by a specialist as Kent himself confirmed on social media.

A setback during a solid season

Up until the time of the accident, the 2021 season had been going well for Danny Kent. Despite suffering a few crashes and technical problems in the early rounds, the Brit scored his first podium in the previous Thruxton round and had become a consistent frontrunner in recent races but the accident will now keep him away from the racetracks for a while.

The Buildbase Suzuki team will only field Gino Rea at Cadwell Park, as it decides as to an eventual replacement for the number 52 rider, while Jason O'Halloran, Tarran Mackenzie and Tommy Bridewell will battle it out in the Summer Grand Slam, the winner set to earn 10,000 pounds.
