Stage debut of a show dedicated to the Dunlop dynasty

For the first time, road racing will be the subject of a stage show. This is the idea behind “Safety Catch - No Risk, No Reward”, a production that will preview in Ireland on 27 May (a couple of days before the start of the Tourist Trophy) before touring the United Kingdom.

Michael Dunlop the main character

The show focuses on Michael Dunlop, nineteen-time Tourist Trophy winner (who will be played by actor Andrew McCracken), as he considers whether or not to continue racing after yet another tragedy hits his family, or rather the death of brother William at the 2018 Skerries 100.

“It’s about life and death - a lot of death for the Dunlop family, one of the greatest sporting families Ireland has ever produced”, commented the show’s director Joe O'Byrne. “The story is a verbal battle between two characters as they try to understand why they do what they do. It is a captivating and fierce encounter, full of emotion, grief and passion.”
