The road racing world knows no peace. After a 2022 edition of the Tourist Trophy that was marked by five deaths, we must unfortunately report the passing of young rider Jack Oliver following a terrible incident at Kells Road Races, an event that has become famous over the years for the big jumps the riders must tackle over the course of a lap.

Jack’s family has confirmed the news, with brother Robbie posting the following message on social media: “As some may have heard, our wee rocket has gained his angel wings at Kells road races doing what he loved best, am sure that big grin was on full display! I honestly have no words. Everyone dies, not everyone lives”.

Just a couple of months ago, in April, Oliver scored his first victory at the Cookstown 100. The accident, which occurred during the Supersport race, led the organisers to cancel the rest of the event. A few hours prior, Jack reached the podium in the Junior Support race, while the Open Championship race was won by favourite Michael Sweeney.
