CIV, strong debut for Voight: “I love Misano. Simoncelli? He believes in me”

The Italian CIV championship round at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli was not short on wildcards and special international guests. One of these was a certain Harrison Voight, an Australian rider who normally competes in the FIM JuniorGP for Paolo Simoncelli’s Sic58 Squadra Corse, and who took part in the two national Moto3 races with the Bierreti Racing team’s BeOn.

Voight used the weekend to build confidence with the Misano track, one at which he’d not raced before. He immediately appeared at ease around the Italian track and with the 450 cc Moto3 bike of the team headed up by Giulia Stibioli, so much so that he achieved a podium finish in Race 1.

Voight: “The 450cc Moto3? Great for training”

“This was my first time at Misano, but I had a lot of fun and have to admit I find the CIV paddock very professional”, comments Harrison. “It was a useful weekend, particularly in light of the upcoming Junior Moto3 round that will run here, as I’ll be ready to fight for the positions that count now that I’ve finally got to know this amazing track”.

One of the unique features of the national Moto3 class is the MX-derived 450cc engine, but it posed no problem for the Australian: “The only strange aspect of this Moto3 bike is the gearing, because it’s not easy to get used to having just five gears, but aside from that, I think it’s a great bike for training and the performance level is not far from the Moto3 bikes I ride in the FIM JuniorGP and the Red Bull Rookies Cup”.

“Simoncelli has helped me grow a lot”

Voight has been racing in Paolo Simoncelli’s team colours for three years already, in both the European Talent Cup and the Junior World Championship: “Racing for Paolo is fantastic, he believes in me and is helping me grow a lot. We’ve had some tough times, especially last year due to injury, but I’m having a wonderful experience that I hope can continue and carry us both even further”.
