Gino Rea continues to make staggeringly good progress following his terrible accident during practice at the Suzuka 8 Hours in early August. The British rider, who is still in Japan where he has been undergoing treatment for almost a month now, is finally up on his feet, as reported by his family on social media.

Rea is smiling and standing

“Gino greets us with a smile every day at the hospital, write the family members and girlfriend of the FCC TSR Honda France rider. “He has continued to surprise everyone again and again, always keeping on track to achieving his short-term goals. He's now up on his feet taking strides in confidence and engages well with everyone. Thanks for the support.”

In the meantime, riders in the EWC championship, including Gino’s team-mates Josh Hook and Mike Di Meglio, are preparing for the final round of the season, the Bol d'Or, which will take place at the Le Castellet track over the weekend of 17-18 September.
