Kevin Benavides has won the 2023 Dakar! The Team Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider won the final stage to move into first place in the general standings. The Argentinian did well to close the gap to Price during the final two specials. As expected, the fight for both the overall victory and the stage win came down to these two protagonists, with Benavides finishing ahead of the Australian thanks to a time of 01:15:17. Joining them on the podium at the end of this final stage was Pablo Quintanilla, the Honda rider finishing +03:15.

Kevin Benavides beats Toby Price and Skyler Howes

Daniel Sanders just missed out on the podium, closing +03:35 from the winner, followed by another big name, Skyler Howes, who crossed the line fifth, ten seconds behind the Australian. Sebastian Buhler placed sixth, +04:14, ahead of Luciano Benavides, seventh with a gap of +04:25, Adrian Van Beveren at +04:51 and Tosha Schareina at +05:47. Stefan Svitko rounded out the top ten.

Kevin Benavides wins the Dakar for the second time, having previously triumphed with the Honda in 2021. As we’ve said, the Argentinian was able to get the better of Toby Price aboard the KTM, who finishes a very worthy runner up with a final gap of 43 seconds. Skyler Howes and his Husqvarna maintain third place overall, despite a gap of +05:04 following stage fourteen.

Quintanilla places fourth overall after finishing 19 minutes behind. The Honda rider precedes team-mate Van Beveren (+20:30) and the Husqvarna of Luciano Benavides, sixth with a gap of +22:42. The GasGas of Daniel Sanders (+25:57) positions seventh, in front of Cornejo Florimo, +51:21 with the Honda. The top ten is rounded out by Santolino and Caimi.
