SBK Misano: Rea and the Italians ready to shine in front of the fans

With spectators in the grandstand, the Marco Simoncelli circuit promises a real show, as Loka and Rinaldi prepare for a comeback and the world champion seeks to extend his championship lead despite tough competition

Two weeks after the second round at Estoril, the Superbikes are back for the Italian round at the Misano World Circuit "Marco Simoncelli". An event that will see something of a return to normality, thanks to the presence of spectators in the grandstands, as well as a new technical feature regarding the tyres, with Pirelli introducing a new compound for the Superpole.

The obvious favourite is of course Jonathan Rea, who has always been particularly competitive around the Romagna track with the Kawasaki and who will attempt to extend his championship lead. But he won’t be short on competition, starting with team-mate Alex Lowes and “usual suspects” Redding and Razgatlioglu who, after the problems at the last round, will be going all out for the race wins.

 Italians seeking a comeback

The four Italians are all very keen to play a starring role, particularly Andrea Locatelli and Michael Ruben Rinaldi. For Loka, the Superbike apprenticeship is going well, but he’s not yet been able to fight seriously for the podium positions, so perhaps Misano could be the place. While the official Ducati rider will be fighting hard after the Estoril episode with Garrett Gerloff, who will start from pitlane in race 1.

And then there are the numerous outsiders, like Davies with the Go Eleven Ducati and Bassani with the team Motocorsa red bike, the official BMW M1000RR machines of Sykes and Van Der Mark, always competitive at this track in the past, without forgetting the Honda HRCs of Bautista and Haslam, real unknowns at every round.
