WorldSBK: Samuele Cavalieri to return to Barni Racing as of Barcelona

The Italian will round out the season with the team for which he already raced in 2018 and 2020, replacing the departing Rabat

Team Barni Racing welcomes back Samuele Cavalieri for the final part of the 2021 season after the premature departure of Tito Rabat.

The Italian already rode the Barni team Ducati V4R in last year’s Barcelona and Magny Cours rounds as a prize for his performance in the 2020 Italian CIV series. After splitting with Pedercini, Cavalieri returned to the CIV, racing the team Schacht by Barni Panigale 955 in the National Trophy BigSport, where he quickly scored great results.

This led to the idea to ‘bring him back home’ and have him compete in the final five WorldSBK rounds, as of Barcelona, where Cavalieri made his debut a year ago. The number 76 rider aims to adapt as quickly as possible to the Superbike version of the V4R, which differs from last year’s bike.

The comments of Cavalieri and Barnabò

The announcement also brought some initial words from Samuele Cavalieri and team manager Marco Barnabò

Samuele Cavalieri comments, “This is the opportunity I have been waiting for, firstly I want to thank "Barni" for the opportunity. Obviously a special thanks goes also to my family and my sponsors who have made this happen. I will have five races left and there will be time to get the bike comfortable for my riding style. The fact that I already know the team, which is practically the same as last year, will be an advantage, but the most important thing is to work methodically and not be in a hurry. The first goal will be to adapt as quickly as possible, to ride without pressure improving race by race.”

While Marco Barnabò states, We chose Samuele because he already raced with us, but above all because I think it is the right moment for his career. He is young, but he has already gained experience in WorldSBK and I think he still has room for growth. This experience could help him to take the decisive step. Coming into the championship at the middle of the season is not easy because he will face riders who already have lots of races on their bikes, but for this reason every step will be very important, and every result will taste even sweeter.”
