The news had been in the air for a while and is now official - Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge will ride for the factory HRC team in next year’s WorldSBK championship, taking the place of Alvaro Bautista and Leon Haslam. The team, headed up by Leon Camier, has bid farewell to the English rider on the same day it confirms its latest hires.

The Honda team has therefore decided to move forward with the development of its bike by entrusting it to two very promising young talents, both currently competing in the world championship, in MotoGP and Moto2, after having tried to followed the indications provided by experienced riders Bautista and Haslam in recent years.

Camier bids farewell to Leon Haslam

HRC team manager, Leon Camier, has thanked Haslam for his work over the last two years: "Over the time spent working together, we have had the opportunity to appreciate Leon as both a rider and as a person. We want to thank him for his hard work, dedication and full commitment to our project and the team. It has been a pleasure to work with him, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

His time at Honda now at an end, the Englishman is likely to make a return to British Superbike, where he already has several offers on the table.
