WorldSBK, Motocorsa, Ducati and Bassani: the Italian trio prepare for 2022

Lorenzo Mauri’s team will once again entrust their Panigale V4 R to Axel, one of the revelations of the 2021 season

15.12.2021 ( Aggiornata il 15.12.2021 15:22 )

The news comes as no surprise as the agreement between team and rider was essentially already in place, but we can now officially confirm that Motocorsa Racing and Axel Bassani will take on the 2022 SBK season together, their second consecutive season after that which recently concluded at the Mandalika Circuit.

In Indonesia, Lorenzo Mauri’s team and the young Italian rider just missed out on the independent title dedicated to privateer teams. They came very close though, the number 47 rider caught up in racing incident that also involved Michael Van Der Mark.

The 2021 season was nevertheless a truly memorable one, Axel often doing better than some of his factory rivals aboard the Ducati. So why not continue the collaboration in 2022, a season that promises even greater competitiveness and excellent results?

Lorenzo Mauri already hard at work on the 2022 project

All the teams work (almost) every day of the year, but we can remove the ‘almost’ when talking about Motocorsa. Lorenzo Mauri’s team headquarters are in Lurago d'Erba, where he ensures they have all the hands, brains and passion required as they prepare for a new season. "I’m pleased to have Axel with us once again”, comments the manager. “Together we will work hard to repeat the results achieved this season. We have more experience now and won’t be considered rookies anymore. We can’t wait to get back on track and are working to achieve even higher levels of competitiveness".
