SSP, the Ducati armada looks set to grow: D34G prepares to land

Davide Giugliano seems intent on bringing his team to the world championship, re-establishing links with the manufacturer he holds dear. Filippo and Federico Fuligni the most likely riders

The days go by and there is no shortage of Supersport news. While last week it was team Evan Bros. that shook things up when they confirmed Lorenzo Baldassarri, followed by Dynavolt and news of Hannes Soomer’s arrival, today it’s the turn of a ‘new’ team.

We’re talking about the D34G team, steered as you might guess from its name by none other than Davide Giugliano. The squad is keen to compete in the world championship on a more stable basis, after making an appearance at last year’s Misano round.

Red passion

On that occasion, the former rider’s team fielded Filippo Fuligni and the Yamaha R6. But of the two, only one looks likely to be retained. It seems that rider Fuligni will stay on and make the step up to the world championship after some solid performances in the Italian CIV SSP category.

While as we’ve said, the bike will change, marking something of a return to the past for Giugliano. The team will field the Ducati V2 955, a queen among the bikes that are set to debut, the potential of which is of increasing interest.

And we’re not just talking one Fuligni, as it appears he may be joined by… his brother. Filippo could find himself sharing a garage with older brother Federico, who’s already raced in SSP for three seasons and is ready for a new adventure. Official confirmation is expected in the coming days, the project bound to attract more than a little attention.
