A world championship opportunity for Alessandro, who stands in for missing Haslam. "I want to show what I can do"

A familiar face returns. Alessandro Delbianco made his Superbike world championship in 2019, demonstrating his talents on several occasions, and now he is presented with a new opportunity. With Leon Haslam set to miss the Misano round as he is competing with Kawasaki at the Suzuka 8 Hours, it will be Delbianco who will ride the team Pedercini ZX-10R.

So the Italian gets another chance, one that he is keen to exploit and that he has earned by doing well in the CIV championship. Having finished second overall last season, he currently lies third in the general standings with the Nuova M2 team's Aprilia, just twenty points from leader Michele Pirro.

Delbianco: “A great opportunity”

“I was keen to be here”, comments an excited Alessandro, “as knowing the track will definitely facilitate things as I get to grips with a bike I don’t know. I see this round as an opportunity to show what I can do as I try to find a ride for 2023. I’m coming back to Superbike with a lot more experience than before, so I feel ready and prepared. I can only be optimistic, but we have our work cut out for sure”.

Lucio Pedercini is also pleased to welcome an Italian talent to his team, in addition to Loris Cresson and the aforementioned Haslam. "We’re pleased to welcome Alessandro on board for the Misano round. We already tried to do something together in the past, but it wasn’t the right time – to be able to announce a rider of Delbianco’s caliber for our home round is a dream come true".
