The last time that Superbike had its own videogame was in 2012. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 were all the rage, and the front cover was dominated by Carlos Checa, who won the title the previous year, along with two legends like Troy Bayliss and Colin Edwards.

Ten years later and it’s back. 2022 will see the Superbikes return to consoles and PCs, with their own official video game. A project that has been in the works for a while, the result of hard work by Milestone, a videogame developer based in Milan that already sent some of its guys into the field last year, at Barcelona for example, with a view to gathering info and data for a game.

High hopes

Milestone is also the company that develops the official MotoGP videogame, and so there are high hopes that SBK22 – the name of the game – will ride the wave of MotoGP22, both in terms of its graphics and its content.

One of the features will be the acclaimed career mode, where the player will be totally free to personalise their gaming experience, as well as the multiplayer side, with the possibility for up to 12 players to battle it out online. The videogame will be available for the Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Steam, but prospective buyers will have to wait until the end of summer, as the game is set to be released on 15 September.
