SBK Australia, Bautista: “Now it’s time to think about next season”

Phillip Island was painted red on Sunday. Ducati red. The newly crowned world champion snatched the win in the second race on Australian soil. At the end of the day, Alvaro told us how it went: “I felt much better today. I had much better feeling compared to yesterday. Saturday wasn’t good at all. But today I had more confidence with the bike. I’m pleased to have brought home this result.”

It’s been a fantastic year for the Spaniard, who has dominated the racing and tested both six-time champion Rea and 2021 world champion Toprak Razgatlioglu. And Bautista found himself battling with the Northern Irish rider again today: “Rea was strong all weekend, demonstrating great pace right from FP1. Then he won race 1 on Saturday. Today I had to fight, but when you feel good in yourself and with your bike, it’s easier to fight for the win. Now it’s time to think about the 2023 season. We need to be well prepared.”
