The work never stops for Pirelli, with the Italian manufacturer set to bring another new product to the first of two home WorldSBK rounds. We’re talking about a new SCQ rear tyre spec, known as C004 and designed to ensure greater constancy over the ten laps of the Superpole Race.

The Pirelli options for Misano

This new rear spec flanks those already seen at previous European rounds, or rather the standard super soft SCX and the SCX-A development tyre (specification B0800), with ongoing comparisons being drawn between the two. These in addition to the soft SC0.

As for the front, it’s all about continuity, with Pirelli confirming the solutions used at Barcelona. Starting with the soft SC0 front, which debuted at Barcelona and is designed to offer greater grip, together with the SC1 medium and SC2 hard. The young Supersport 300 riders will also benefit, as of the Misano round, from a new development set, SC1 compound at the front and SC2 at the rear, that harnesses innovative materials.

“Now it's time to focus on the rears as well as the front tyres, in particular on the SCQ solution”, comments Giorgio Barbier. “The current standard extra soft guarantees a very good peak performance and therefore it perfectly fulfills its role as a qualifier tyre. The goal we have set ourselves is to allow it to be used also in the Superpole Race, which in some cases already happens. With the new development solution, we want to guarantee this tyre a greater performance consistency and therefore a higher mileage so as to make it a key choice for the 10 laps of the short race on all circuits.”
